Much like Africa's largest telescope SALT (The Southern African Large Telescope) in Sutherland, The SpaceStation, Southern Africa's largest media solutions company, is Africa's eye on the digital universe. With this access to information and insight, Digital SALT 2017 refined and envisioned the digital future in South Africa. Digital SALT 2017 took place on 21 September, but will follow again in 2018. Gustav Goosen

Gustav Goosen is the CEO of The SpaceStation, part of 24.com and the Media24 Group, The SpaceStation is Naspers’ lead digital media sales house in Sub Saharan Africa. With over 16 years of digital advertising experience, Gustav has developed expertise in managing sales teams, building partnerships with clients and delivering tech innovations to continuously remain at the forefront of the digital advertising space in South Africa.

A stalwart in South Africa’s burgeoning digital industry, Gustav has held the position of IAB South Africa’s Head of Research since 2012, and previously the DMMA Exco Monitoring portfolio in 2011.

Gustav will discuss mobile, data, content and artificial intelligence trends and look at where exactly our media industry in South Africa heading in the future.

Vicki Myburgh

Vicki has been with PwC for 22 years. She is a partner in the Assurance Practice and has been the Southern African Leader for PwC’s Entertainment and Media practice for the last six years. She spent a few years in London in the late 1990’s with the PwC practice there.

Vicki has worked with many local and international media companies throughout her career and manages large cross border assurance engagements.

The Entertainment and Media Outlook was born from her passion for the industry and the need to have more relevant South African and indeed African information to complement the global information that is available. Vicki will release the latest 2017 report to the industry, and will be cover topics around shifting consumer trends and the changing South African measurement landscape.

Brett StClair

Now the Barclays Africa Head of Digital Product Management, Brett has spent the last 20 years building and growing digital businesses and products. After eight years working with Silicon Valley technology businesses, Brett is now focusing on helping traditional businesses become digital.

After a decade in London he started his own Digital/Mobile Marketing and Media Agency in Johannesburg. Thereafter he joined Admob as Country Manager for SA. Once Google acquired Admob, he headed up New Products and Solutions for Sub Sahara Africa, Greece and Israel. Brett was also the SA Mobile Marketing Association Co-Chair for 2 years, helping establish mobile marketing as an industry.

Brett will be focusing on disruption, how technology is driving innovation in a customer centric mobile world, as well as the evolving SA consumer and how brands need to use tech to stay ahead of the pack.

Nic Robertson

Nic Robertson, General Manager of UberEATS since October 2016, started his career in financial services. After joining the Rocket Internet group he discovered the influence of technology in Africa and the possibilities that were opening up on the continent.

Nic then joined the Naspers group subsidiary Media24, and moved into a new business development role, which took him to Europe, India and Africa to discuss potential solutions, new revenue streams and exciting areas for potential business development.

He is passionate about growing and connecting businesses, understanding their culture and creating a platform for a greater ecosystem to develop. Nic will dive into topics including the future of retail and e-commerce, the online storefront and driving foot traffic, as well as the new rules in retail including the use of data in consumer centric products.

Dina Amin

Dina has over 13 years of experience in product development, marketing and sales. She is currently responsible for developing Google's publisher partnerships in the Middle East and Africa through strategic planning, new business growth, and digital channel development. She works with the largest publishers in the region to assist in monetising their display, video and mobile inventory through programmatic advertising.

Prior to joining Google, Dina worked at Barclays where she held senior positions in Marketing and Digital estate management across various geographies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Dina received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester and an MBA from London Business School (awarded scholarship).

Dina will be sharing her expertise on programmatic advertising and the future of measurement and targeting in the media and advertising industry.

Jerusha Sukhdeo-Raath

Jerusha drives digital video strategy and publishing across Media24’s networks.

Jerusha’s News24 Live team of video journalists, producers and technical staff achieve an average of nine million cross-platform views each month; unprecedented in South African digital video.

Jerusha is the Digital Salt 2017 event Master of Ceremonies.
